Neville Evans

Neville Evans is a committed  Christian who currently attends ‘One Community Church’ in Blackburn. He is married to Heather Evans and is the father of 2 adult sons and grandfather to 3 young girls.

Neville was converted in 1976, from a non-Christian background, when he heard the call of God on his life when viewing the film, ‘A Thief in the Night’. Following his conversion, Neville attended Deepdene Gospel Chapel and subsequently completed the 2 year Emmaus Bible College Diploma Course during 1979-1980. From 1982-1983, Neville worked as a part-time youth pastor with Deepdene Chapel.

Neville and his family attended Mitcham Baptist Church from 1984 until 2003, where he served as a deacon and elder. He and Heather subsequently commenced attending One Community Church [i.e. Blackburn Church of Christ] in 2003, where they have remained. Neville has also served on the Ministerial Professional Standards Committee for the Churches of Christ in Victoria.

Neville has been a social worker for the past 30 years, and has been employed in various fields, including; 15 ½ years with the Family Court, 8 years with Child Protection, and 3 years as a therapeutic counsellor for abused children. He has also had wide experience as a trainer and presenter for professionals on issues relating to child abuse and trauma, family violence, and the impact of separation and high parental conflict on children.  

Since May 2016, Neville has been the manager of Temcare, which is a Christian welfare agency associated with Christian Community Churches of Victoria and Tasmania. Temcare provides a range of welfare services for vulnerable families within the community.
